When we were still freshmen.
The school had an orientation.
To all prayers said, we shouted Amen.
We took many selfies and photos.
We didn't know what we got ourselves into.
We didn't know school was war.
Some months have come and we watched.
Lectures started and it began to dawn on us.
To know that time was going we didn't need a watch.
We left all distractions to focus on our cause.
The tests came around all of a sudden.
Leaving us with hearts so sullen.
Preparations for the main course intensified.
Seeing outcomes from the tests both good and bad.
Then it came with a certain fright
Just like a thief in the night.
Some months have come and gone.
And the second phase started.
A little familiar with what was going on.
New resolutions were forming in our heads.
We were determined as lectures began.
But something else was happening
To find out we almost ran
Results from the first phase were pouring in.
Some months have passed as we've seen.
Most of the outcomes have been seen.
One even left most unsmiling.
It was said that the lion in the zoo wasn't smiling.
Even though some are still flinching
We have moved on knowing it will soon end.
Despite everything we keep going
because we know that there is hope at the end of this tunnel.
